Can you believe December is RIGHT around the corner? November and December are the busiest time of year for many reasons – but when it comes to marketing it is a busy busy month. If you’re creating content (to share on a blog, socials, or emails) it needs to be creative and unique. There are so many other creators out in the market place, and if you’re not careful, your content will get lost in the abyss.
A great way to solve the problem of “what should we post?” is creating a content calendar for your business. Content calendars are exactly what they sound like! You’re simply planning ahead to create intentional content that will connect with customers and viewers. It’s important to note that what trends on socials can change weekly – and even daily! What worked for you last month, might not work for you this month. When you’re planning, you’ll need to keep this mindset knowing that your content ideas will need to constantly change and evolve to stay relevant.
One of our favorite ways to get started with a content calendar is to find “fun holiday” or unofficial holidays for each month. This is great way to find a topic to create content off. You will need to get creative in the vehicle and methods you use to create and deliver this content. For example, you might celebrate the first day of every month, but the same “Happy November, Happy December” post can get quite redundant. You can keep the same content message, but change the way the message delivered.
One month you might post a carousel of “this month at a glance.” Another month, you might find a trending sound that matches the month. It’s important that the fun holidays relate to your customers, your target market, and your brand.
For example, you wouldn’t “celebrate” National Brush Your Teeth Day if you’re a bank. It just doesn’t connect with your brand, vision, and goals. However, you can connect the dots from interesting days to your company. As a bank, you might celebrate National Flip a Coin Day or the day the World’s Largest Piggy Bank was made. You don’t have to be predictable, but your content needs to align with your brand and goals.
